Aventura: Bring me the Disco King (II)

INSPIRACIÓN Y CONSEJOS DE DIRECCIÓN

Esta aventura está inspirada en la música disco, el glam, David Bowie y el ambiente abigarrado y colorista de los 70. También en su faceta más oscura, representada por el Nueva York de aquellos años, lleno de posibilidades pero también de drogas y crímenes. Studio 57 es, obviamente, una versión ficticia del legendario Studio 54, donde se reunían todos los actores, músicos y artistas de renombre de la época, desde Andy Warhol hasta el propio Bowie, pasando por Truman Capote, Dalí, John Travolta o Freddie Mercury.

Los protagonistas van a sumergirse en una realidad alternativa, pero muy similar en muchos aspectos. Un evento catastrófico ha liberado la magia en el mundo y ellos forman parte de los tocados con el don. La élite de la subcultura de la ciudad posee ahora poderes excepcionales. También la ciudad es diferente, con pliegues, puertas y caminos que los mortales no pueden ver. Seres similares a los de las leyendas, pero no del todo, caminan por Central Park, toman taxis o les observan perchados en los rascacielos.

El máster debería aprovechar el contraste entre lo corriente, lo que la gente normal se topa día a día, y el "otro lado" al que los personajes pertenecen. Los locales de copas, los hoteles de mala muerte, las bandas callejeras, los lugares icónicos de Nueva York, y por supuesto, las discotecas, tendrán algún rasgo oculto sobrenatural. Quizá haya una planta concreta del hotel Chelsea que se considere territorio neutral donde los sobrenaturales no tengan permitido atacarse y puedan tomar una habitación para descansar. Un pub puede servir elixir de rocío irlandés, reconstituyente para los seres mágicos pero que provoca la locura en los humanos. Al igual que el metro conecta los diferentes barrios, una red de atajos invisibles marcados con símbolos arcanos puede permitir a aquellos que estén en peligro huir y aparecer a kilómetros de distancia.

Una buena referencia para encontrar el tono son las historias de Neil Gaiman y Alan Moore, en especial The Sandman y Constantine. No es indispensable haber leído nada suyo, solo mantener en la mente el concepto de "urbano fantástico".

Por último, la trama en sí misma surge de una estrofa de la canción Bring me the Disco King, en la remezcla de Danny Lohner para la banda sonora de la película Underworld (2003).
